My parents became missionaries to Peru, South America. They certainly experienced a good share of Godwinks in their lives. One day my father was traveling muleback along some rather treacherous mountain trails. He and his two companions were exhausted from their strenuous day’s ride in the hot sun. Adding to their misery was their dwindling supply of water.
“What I wouldn’t give for a delicious, juicy orange right about now,” my father sighed.
“Look!” his companions, shouted. There on the trail in front of them lay a large, beautiful orange. My father dismounted, lovingly picked up the orange and thanked his Heavenly Father for giving him the desire of his heart. He carefully peeled the orange and divided it into thirds to share with his friends, but they graciously declined. They wouldn’t touch it.
“God heard you and sent that orange to you,” they insisted.
Coincidence, you say? I think not. God knows and sees every desire of our hearts. Sometimes He grants us those desires even when we don’t think to pray and ask for them. He delights in fulfilling even the smallest of pleasures for His children.
